It can be difficult to keep on healthy diet during the summer, as there are many temptations. Whether it’s lip-smacking food on the beach, sugary ice cream, or processed foods, they all save time in the kitchen. Eating well in the summer, however, doesn’t mean sacrificing tasty foods or avoiding stress.

Water, infused water, and watery foods

Drinking enough water is important. Symptoms of dehydration include headache, dizziness, dry skin, lips and mouth. Drink at least 2.5 liters of water per day. Use a reminder app if needed. Have a cold drink with lots of ice and a slice of lemon to avoid monotony. Eat light and frequent meals

Eat colorful seasonal vegetables, leafy greens, and whole grains for optimal fiber and micronutrients.

Remember the balanced plate guidelines when eating out. Choose baked, grilled or sauteed meals. When shopping at the grocery store, be sure to read nutrition labels carefully before purchasing a packaged food product. Take note of the ingredient list, calories per serving, the presence of trans fat and the amount of salt in each product.
