Beauty Favorites from June 2022

A change of season required us to revisit our beauty essentials. Of course, they need to be able to withstand cooler weather and so we’re gravitating towards richer textures and nourishing serums. From serums and fabric masks packaged with hyaluronic acid to bronzers and perfumes reminiscent of a European sun, we present the RUSH beauty favorites for June 2022.

Emma Lewisham Skin Reset Eye Cream

We have yet to come across an Emma Lewisham product that we don’t like. This B Corp certified business has a dedicated spot on our beauty shelves and for those who have found themselves stocking up on its Skin Reset serum then meet your new obsession: Skin Reset Eye Crème. It’s a hardworking formula that digs deeper into the epidermis to deliver a powerful punch of antioxidants, stimulating collagen production and making your eyes look hydrated and juicy.

Oribe Very Fixed Structural Spray

For those who take hairstyle seriously, try this Oribe setting spray for size. It lifts all the best things about the old school fixing spray, reinventing it into a more versatile product that offers structure, density and shine. What makes it unique is the formula itself, which is emitted as a light, gentle foaming spray so you can see where you sprayed, then dissolve as you work in the product.

Chanel Les Beiges Oversize Healthy Glow Sun-kissed powder

Chanel managed to condense summer leather into an XXL compact. We like to see it, but most of all we like to use it. Especially since winter has stolen all the color from our skin. We love its texture, neither cream nor powder, and we must refrain from brushing it everywhere. Seriously.

Go for much more plump skin

Nothing gets your blood pumping like news of a new Go-To product. Released in early May, this is another one to add to your millennial pink arsenal. It is a moisturizing serum that boasts four different types of hyaluronic acids, a powerful humectant that attracts water to the skin. Like most, a little goes a long way and this is sealed with peptides and provitamin B5 to plump that skin to the gods.

Goldfield & Banks in purple suede

As longtime readers will know, the RUSH the team is selective when it comes to the scents they bring into their world. But when we came across Goldfield & Banks’s Purple Suede it was love. A warm amber scent that transports us to European summers, this hypnotic fragrance is a love letter to lavender, especially Tasmanian lavender. Coupled with leather, musk, oud and patchouli from Indonesia, we feel like gravitating towards this moody scent like an amulet against winter.

Lipstick Lou Lou Lips Cova

Beauty is above all feeling good. Cova lipstick from Melbourne-based label Lou Lou Lips is here to arouse that feeling in more ways than one. Yes, it’s the perfect shade of wine red and it’s universally flattering, but the brand has pledged to donate the equivalent of one menstrual cup for every lipstick sold in an effort to quell the poverty of the period across African countries.

Dior Eden-Roc Eau de Parfum

Our minds, hearts and noses are anchored somewhere in the Mediterranean this June, it seems. And Dior is more than happy to facilitate our desire. Its Eden-Roc fragrance is an expressive ode to the French Riviera and its coast of luxury hotels, most notably the Hôtel du Cap-Eden-Roc. Salty like the ocean and with a touch of pine, it’s deliberately simple – just the way we like it.

Christian Tortu Tuberosa

We are always here for a candle with a range of 45 hours, especially when it smells so good. For those who are easily seduced by the scent of rose, then here is this bad boy from Christian Tortu. Bringing the natural into your home, Christian Tortu is renowned for his unusual scents, removing all subtleties and showcasing ingredients as they occur in nature.

Votary Super Glow Mask

We will take every opportunity to dedicate ourselves to taking care of ourselves, starting with this Super Glow Mask by Votary. From the beginning it stands out from other masks for its serum-like packaging, a godsend for those who are discouraged from having to spread the product on their face. Instead, this mask is light, rich in salicylic acid to gently exfoliate while the avocado and peach oil are conditioned. Carry it around as a post-flight ritual now that we’re traveling again.

Be Fraiche face oil with seeds

You don’t need us to tell you that winter can be hard on the skin. In RUSH we are all browsing changing skin due to the cooler temperature and for designer Teressia Carr this face oil has helped with her dry nose. It is rich in fatty acids, antioxidants and vitamins to soothe redness and be an essential sedative for those with sensitive skin.

Joico K-PAK Reconstructing Shampoo

Another winter downside is the impact that blistering hot showers and heavy-handed hot styling can have on your locks. Enter this shampoo (and conditioner if you’re keen) from Joico. It is an essential pharmacy to have in your kit when your hair is sad. Formulated with keratin and guava fruit extract, spread this rich shampoo through your hair and find it significantly improved.

Boy De Chanel eyebrow pencil

The perfect eyebrow pencil is the one you can carry around and preferably the one with a spoolie brush attached. This and we want a long lasting pigment. Chanel’s waterproof formula is the one we keep coming back to. After all, we don’t have time for smudge-prone ash types. Put it in your bag and store it as you drift from day to night.

Sundae exfoliating body wash with green tea

Your daily consumption of vegetables shouldn’t be reserved just for your tummy. Show your body some green leafy love too with this green tea exfoliating body wash from Sundae. It does all the essentials – eliminating dead skin and clearing pores – but with an energizing scent and foamy texture that makes cleansing fun enough?

Caudalie Vinoperfect Radiance Serum

Caudalie has been nothing but good for our skin and it’s Vinoperfect Radiance Serum is simply another rumor as to why. Apply morning and evening and see how its magic works on pigmentation, dark spots and unwanted textures.

Davines OI Silky Perfume for Hair

We just want scented hair. Davines offers this with its OI hair silk scent which somehow makes your hair scented without weighing it down with unnecessary oils. She is going to the top shelf, thank you very much.

Dr. Naomi Gently Cleansers and Gently Walk of Shine

We fell in love with Dr. Naomi’s range of cleansers this June, appreciating the fact that there is a different option for dry and sensitive skin and those with combination and oily skin. If you sit in the former camp, we suggest Gently Gently, a denser texture containing cucumber hydrosol that is here to soothe inflamed and compromised skin and restore it to its most hydrated form. For the latter, try Walk of Shine, designed to offer a deep yet gentle cleansing so as not to disturb the skin’s natural moisture balance.

Nars Summer Unrated eyeshadow palette

All of Nars’ biggest hits have been brought together in this cocktail of matte, glitter and shimmer eyeshadow. There are favorites like Orgasm, Laguna and Taj Mahal, along with various other neutral, bronze and pink shades. Dubbed the largest Nars eyeshadow palette, this is a limited edition, so run don’t walk.

Sisley Phyto-Lèvres Perfect No.1 Nude

Lined lips aren’t new, but boy did I get close to the look recently. This satin liner from Sisley is the perfect nude and pairs well with a simple lip gloss to get a lip but better result. Plus, we love that it’s double ended – the mini brush is useful more often than you think.

Chanel Sublimage L’essence renewing eye serum

As someone with eyes that seem perpetually tired, this eye serum from Chanel brings me back to the land of the living better than any coffee. Designed to complement its buttery eye cream, Sublimage La Crème Yeux, both products work in tandem to minimize lines, lessen the appearance of dark circles and puffiness, resulting in brighter, more alert eyes.

Smashbox x Becca Illuminating corrector for eyes

Many tears were shed when it was announced that Becca would be closing. Not least because where would we go to find our Champagne Pop and That inimitable lightening concealer? Well, the answer none of us expected is Smashbox. We will go to Smashbox. The Original Formula Becca has found a new home at the American beauty company to the collective cheer of makeup fanatics around the world. See, miracles happen!

Jeju Innisfree Root Energy Mask

An inexpensive face mask that offers five different hyaluronic complexes found naturally in root vegetables from the famous Jeju Island in South Korea. It lifts the skin and gives radiance. Furthermore, for those who are wary of fabric masks and their environmental impact, this is made with eucalyptus and bamboo cellulose.
